We Don't Need No Steenkin' Coders!

Oh, sure...

We *could* use a few good coders.

But what we *really* need in Frontier are players.

And lot's of 'em.

With three guilds, eight custom races, and two dozen established quests,
Frontier is a solidly built world waiting for adventurers to explore
and -- once they reach wizardhood -- expand upon.

Yes, you heard right.

You can *earn* your way to a coding position just by playing.

Other sites may offer these positions outright, but we think it takes
more than an ability to churn code to do well.

Your immersion into the world of Frontier as a player gives you an insight
into the balance of the game and of how you might maintain that balance
while creating whole new areas for future players to explore.

We'd love to see you code up something fabulous.

Just drop on by. And play.

We're also home to the LPMUD Purity Test. Check out our web site and see
just how corrupt you really are.

We don't mind users either, but coders is better!

Yes!

We have no guilds, no races, no quests. Instead we have interoperability
with Jabber and IRC and we do distributed applications with or without
a webserver and..

Yes, you heard right.
That's because we're not a MUD, we're a new distributed chat technology
implemented in LPC, which acts like an IRC and a Jabber server, but in
fact we're just the next generation using a much smarter protocol than
both. But if you insist, you can even do IRC bots in LPC or Jabber
applications, only you will quickly figure out, that PSYC is better.

No no, you can download the mudlib -cough- I mean the LPC application
and start tweaking whatever you feel like rightaway. Like implement
your custom rooms. Yeah sure, MUD style, only those are for chatting
and you can then make IRC and Jabber users join them. Or you can use
the mozilla-based GUI client, PsycZilla. Works as firefox extension.

Well, we may not find your code brillant enough for our distribution,
but you can still use the code for your own fantastic multiprotocol
homeserver, or start your own distribution of our work.

Yes! yes! The weirdest things can be thought of, like multicasting
web applications, with builtin chat. You can even plug our library
into your existing MUD game, so anyone in the MUD can talk to Jabber
users, or IRCers can use their IRC clients for mudding, and much more
of this kind. Yeah you could even continue the work on porting intermud
functions to the PSYC protocol. The person who started it got to busy
with real life. Darn real life!

Just spend hours reading through our sick and perverted thought about
futuristic communications technology on http://about.psyc.eu

Or just come to psyc://psyced.org/@psyc or irc://psyced.org/#psyc or
xmpp:#***@ve.symlynX.com and have a chat with us.

We're also home to the Jabber protocol criticism Wiki at
http://about.psyc.eu/Jabber where we collected all the reasons
why XML is a silly protocol syntax and much more, after all the
experience that we gained by implementing that protocol and even
trying to improve it by submitting protocol fixes to jabber.org.

And to prove we're also a MUD, you can telnet to

Totally agree. Thanks Ploi for the .. huh.. template. ;)

Now if you ask why the hell we did this in LPC, http://about.psyc.eu/LPC

Some may even remember me, the lynX of Nemesis,
once largest MUD in Germany.
